The Poland Veterinary Centre Team

Pictured above, from left to right in the front row  are:  Sandy, Carrie, Nancy,  and Shannon. In the back row, from left to right, are Carly, Amanda, Katie and Kristin. You can read more about them in the biographies on this page.

We believe that pets are members of the family, and that they deserve the same medical care and consideration that all the other members of the family receive. We also believe that an important part of our mission is to educate pet owners on how to care for their pets, so that they can be a part of the health care delivery team. This is the best way to ensure that pets receive the best possible care.

One of the things that makes our clinic special is our team of well-trained and caring staff members. We all have pets of our own, and we understand the special bond between a pet and the family.

The staff takes pride in staying abreast of the latest developments in veterinary medicine, and in relaying that information to our clients. Things change rapidly in the medical field, and we work diligently to keep up with those changes. Our staff members enjoy attending seminars and workshops to learn more about their work, and we also do a lot of training in the hospital. Doctors as well as staff members often present topics to the staff, so that we can all learn from each other.

We enjoy getting to know our clients and their families, including their pets. People often reminisce about the "good old days" of caring doctors who take the time to listen to their patients. We strive to live up to that standard every day. Every one of our staff members cares about our clients, our patients and each other. This caring attitude shows through in everything we do.

Sandrae Banar has been part of the Poland VeterinaryNo Description resized to 300 pixels wide
Centre since 1994. She is our Practice Manager.
As part of her duties in that position, she is in charge of ordering all of our hospital supplies, inventory control, OSHA compliance program, meeting with pharmaceutical salespeople and contractors, managing accounts payable and receivable, arranging financing help for clients, managing the staff, and many other issues.

Sandy is a friendly and familiar face to a lot of our clients. She often is the first person a new client meets and she may well be the one who first offers a hug to a long-time client who is facing the loss of a beloved pet. Her compassion for our clients and their pets is one of her most enduring and apparent qualities. She knows nearly every client by name. She laughs with them during happy times,  and cries with them during sad times.

Sandy continues her studies through online courses and seminars. She took part in an OSHA Compliance course, attended the North American Veterinary Conference in Orlando, Florida in 2006,  and recently attended the American Animal Hospital Association's annual conference in Denver, Colordado.

She enjoys horse back riding, church, shopping, and gourmet food and wine. She also loves spending time with her husband and playing with her dog and three cats.

We are very lucky to have Sandy with us. Her compassion, dedication to the practice, and genuine kindness show thru every time you see her.

Nancy Niess (she is the pretty one on the left No Description resized to 300 pixels wide resized to 300 pixels wide
in this picture!) has been with the Poland Veterinary
Centre for seven years. Nancy is a Veterinary Assistant. Her job entails a variety of duties, and requires a wide range of skills. Among her daily tasks, she handles patients in the exam rooms, monitors patients, runs laboratory tests, and takes x-rays of patients. Nancy is also responsible for ordering all of our veterinary diets.

Nancy continues her education through various courses and seminars, and attends monthly educational meetings with the veterinary assistant staff that Dr. Daugherty presents. She also recently completed the Hills' Veterinary Nutritional Advocate course online, and takes classes online thru the Veterinary Personnel Support Network. Nancy is a fast learner and is always ready to take on new tasks.

Nancy loves all animals, but she has a special place in her heart for cats. She has never met a cat that she didn't like - even those who don't like her back! She has five cats of her own that she loves spending time with, including three that she has adopted since working here. Nancy also enjoys running, reading, watching movies, drinking good wine and spending time with family and friends. Like all of us, she loves to go on vacations, but only to warm sunny places!

She also helps with x-rays and preparation of surgical patients, and works as an exam room assistant as well.

Carrie has taken well over a dozen online courses to learn more about veterinary medicine. She has an eagerness to learn more and wants to continue to increase her knowledge of veterinary medicine and to improve her skills.

Carrie enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and her large furry family including six dogs and eight cats. She has always loved animals and most importantly helping them. She does rescue work in her free time and tries to place homeless dogs into loving homes.
