We believe that pets are members of the family, and they deserve the same medical care and consideration that all the other family members receive.  An important part of our mission is to educate pet owners on how to care for their pets properly so that they can be a part of the health care delivery team.  This is the best way to ensure that pets receive the best possible care.

One of the things that makes our clinic special is our team of well-trained and caring staff members.  We all have pets of our own, and we understand the special bond between a pet and its family.

Our staff takes pride in staying abreast of the latest developments in veterinary medicine and in relaying that information to our clients.  Things change rapidly in the medical field, and we work diligently to keep up with those changes.  Our staff members enjoy attending seminars and workshops to learn more about their work, and we also do a lot of training in the hospital.  Doctors and staff members often make presentations to the rest of the staff so that we can all learn from one another.

We enjoy getting to know our clients and their families.  People often reminisce about the "good old days" of caring doctors who took the time to listen to their patients.  We strive to live up to that standard every day.  Each one of our staff members cares about our clients, our patients and each other.  This caring attitude shows through in everything we do.

Sandrae Banar has been part of the Poland VeterinaryNo Description resized to 300 pixels wide Centre since 1994; she is our Practice Manager.  Sandy's responsibilities include:  ordering hospital supplies, inventory control, OSHA compliance, meeting with pharmaceutical salespeople and contractors, managing accounts payable and receivable, arranging financial help for clients and managing the staff . . . to name just a few!

Sandy is a friendly and familiar face to a lot of our clients.  She often is the first person a new client meets, and she may well be the one who first offers a hug to a long-time client who is facing the loss of a beloved pet.  Her compassion for our clients and their pets is one of her most enduring and apparent qualities.  Sandy knows nearly every client by name.  She laughs with them during happy times and cries with them during sad times.

Sandy continues her studies through online courses and seminars.  She took part in an OSHA Compliance course, and she has attended the North American Veterinary Conference in Orlando and the American Animal Hospital Association's annual conference in Denver.  Most recently, Sandy attended the Central Veterinary Conference in Kansas City, Missouri, in August 2010.

Sandy enjoys horseback riding, church, shopping and gourmet food and wine.  She also loves spending time with her husband and playing with her dog and four cats.

We are very lucky to have Sandy with us.  Her compassion, dedication to the practice and genuine kindness show through every time you see her.

Nancy Niess (the pretty one on the left No Description resized to 300 pixels wide resized to 300 pixels widein this picture!) has been with the Poland Veterinary Centre for 10 years.  Nancy is a Veterinary Assistant.  Her job entails a variety of duties and requires a wide range of skills.  Among her daily tasks, Nancy handles patients in the exam rooms, monitors patients during surgeries, runs laboratory tests and takes x-rays of patients.  Nancy also is responsible for ordering all of our veterinary diets.

Nancy continues her education through various online courses through the Veterinary Personnel Support Network and attends the monthly educational meetings that Dr. Daugherty presents.  She also completed the Hills' Veterinary Nutritional Advocate course online.  Nancy is a fast learner and is always ready to take on new tasks.

Nancy loves all animals, but there is a special place in her heart for cats.  She has never met a cat that she didn't like - even if they don't like her back!  She has four cats of her own that she loves spending time with, including three that she has adopted since working here.  Nancy also enjoys running, reading, watching movies, drinking good wine and spending time with family and friends.  Like all of us, she loves to go on vacations, but only to warm sunny places!

Carrie Lyons is our kennel manager.  She has been with us for seven years, and she is No Description resized to 300 pixels wideresponsible for all of our boarding patients.  She tries to give your pets the attention and love they need while they are away from their families.  Carrie also assists in post-surgical recovery of anesthetized patients.  She monitors the patients after surgery and stays with them and checks vitals until the pets are fully recovered.  She also takes x-rays and helps in the preparation of surgical patients, and she works as an exam room assistant as well.

Carrie has taken well over a dozen online courses through VSPN.  She has an eagerness to learn more and wants to continue to increase her knowledge of veterinary medicine and to improve her skills.

Carrie enjoys spending time with her friends and family, especially her 9-month-old daughter.  Carrie's "furry family" consists of six dogs and eight cats.  She always has loved animals and (most importantly) helping them.  She does rescue work in her free time and tries to place homeless dogs into loving homes.  Carrie also attends charity events and volunteers for different rescue and animal assistance organizations.
